Contacting us
The easiest way is inside the app: Settings → Help & support → Report a problem. It opens your email app with a draft that already has the technical details we need (the app version, your phone model and Android or iOS version, and whether notifications and exact alarms are allowed). It never includes your medications, doses, notes, or any other health information, and you can read and edit the email before you send it.
If you email us directly, it helps to tell us what happened, what you expected instead, and your phone model and version.
My reminders are late, or didn't arrive
This is the most common problem, and it's almost always a phone setting. Work down the list:
- Notifications are allowed. On your phone: Settings → Apps → RxBeacon → Notifications.
- Allow exact alarms (Android). In RxBeacon: Settings → Reminders → Allow exact alarms. Without it, Android may deliver reminders minutes late.
- Remove battery limits (Android). On your phone: Settings → Apps → RxBeacon → Battery, and choose Unrestricted. The wording varies by phone. Some phone makers also keep a separate list of "sleeping" or "optimized" apps — make sure RxBeacon isn't on it.
- Do Not Disturb. Do Not Disturb silences normal reminders. On Android, the Critical level and the alarm option ask to ring through it, but Android only allows that once you switch it on: Settings → Apps → RxBeacon → Notifications → the channel (Critical dose reminders or Dose alarms) → Override Do Not Disturb.
- Don't "force stop" the app. Force-stopping cancels Android's scheduled reminders. RxBeacon puts them back the next time you open it.
- Travelling? In RxBeacon: Settings → Travel & time zones controls whether reminders follow your phone's time zone.
You can also run through the permission steps again any time: Settings → Setup guide → Review setup.
What do Standard, Persistent, and Critical mean?
You choose a level for each medication when you add or edit it. Standard sends one reminder at the scheduled time. Persistent and Critical also send follow-up reminders until you log the dose, and logging the dose (or skipping it) cancels them.
| Level | On Android | On iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | One reminder at the scheduled time. | One reminder at the scheduled time. |
| Persistent | Repeats if you haven't logged the dose. Doesn't override Do Not Disturb. | Sent as Time Sensitive, so it can come through most Focus modes, and repeats if you haven't logged the dose. |
| Critical | Repeats sooner and more often, and asks Android to ring through Do Not Disturb. You may need to allow that in RxBeacon's notification settings. | Same Time Sensitive alert as Persistent, but repeats sooner and more often. It can't override the silent switch. |
For Persistent and Critical you can also switch on Ring an alarm for the last reminder. The final follow-up then plays a loud alarm tone with strong vibration instead of a normal notification. On Android, Do Not Disturb can still silence it unless you allow it to override Do Not Disturb (see above). On iPhone it plays a longer alarm tone, and the silent switch still applies.
Everyday questions
How do I mark a dose as taken?
Open the Today tab and tap Take, or use the Take button on the reminder itself. You can also Snooze (10 minutes) or Skip from the reminder. The home-screen widget shows what's due next and opens the app when you tap it.
How do I move RxBeacon to a new phone?
On the old phone: Settings → Backup → Back Up Now (or Save Backup to This Phone) and keep the file somewhere safe, such as your email or cloud storage. On the new phone: install RxBeacon, then Settings → Backup → Restore From File. Restoring replaces whatever is on the new phone.
How do I remove the ads? I already paid, but they're back.
Settings → Ads → Remove Ads is a one-time purchase, with no subscription. After reinstalling or changing phones, open Settings → Ads → Restore Purchases. It checks the same Google Play (or Apple) account you bought with, so sign in to that account on the phone first.
How do I get a report for my doctor?
History → Doctor report makes a one-page PDF you can share or print. Export CSV makes a spreadsheet of your doses.
Can a family member or carer see how I'm doing?
History → Weekly summary for a caregiver makes a one-page PDF of the past week. You send it yourself; nothing is shared automatically. Settings → Weekly summary can remind you on Sunday evenings.
I'm going away. Can I pause reminders?
Settings → Pause reminders pauses everything for a set time, or until you resume. You can also pause one medication from its own screen.
How do I delete my data?
Settings → Data → Clear Data lets you erase your history, your medications, or everything. Remove medication only hides a medication, so your history and reports stay complete until you use Clear Data. Uninstalling the app removes its data from your phone.
Where is my information stored? Do you see it?
No. Your medications, doses, and notes are kept on your phone only. RxBeacon has no accounts and no servers. See the privacy policy for the details, including the optional anonymous crash reports (Settings → Crash reports turns them off).
Is RxBeacon medical advice?
No. RxBeacon records what you tell it and reminds you about it. It doesn't check drug interactions or confirm that a dose is correct. Follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.
